Itinerary Details

Day 01 : Mumbai - Aurangabad Flight

Departure transfer to domestic airport for flight to Aurangabad. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, tour the city named after the 6th famous Mughal Emperor, Aurangzeb. This city is also the stepping stone to the world famous rock cut temples of Ajanta and Ellora. Visit Bibi Ka Maqbara - the tomb of Aurangzeb's wife - built in 1679. Also visit the Panchakki, that serves as the tomb of a muslim saint buried there in 1624. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 02 : Ajanta and Ellora

After breakfast drive through the country side from Aurangabad to visit the stunning rock cut temples of Ajanta and Ellora. Ajanta is one of India's most impressive archaeological sites where Buddhist art attained the peak of its development, revealing a life style and society, amazing to the modern eye. There are 29 rock hewn caves decorated with sculptures. They are so designed that the frescoes and chapels get a flood of natural light at various times of the day. Continue the drive to Ellora which has 34 caves. Unlike Ajanta, where the temples were carved out of a steep cliff, the caves at Ellora were dug into the slope of a hill, in a north-south direction, which means that they can receive the light of the setting sun from the west. The temples of Ellora show the evolution of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism, aging over 2000 years. It is also estimated that around 200,000 tonnes of stone were removed in their construction. Return to Aurangabad for overnight stay at the hotel. (Breakfast included)

Day 03 : Aurangabad Onward Destination
